I don’t know if I have told this story here, but here it is.
I got into amateur radio in high school. I had a gifted radio friend who was Mr Ham Radio. We are still friends 50 years later.
But the real story is I also got to be great friends with his father and mother and they were like second parents to me,
Walter was a Korea Marine. A rifleman, aHunter and sportsman of all kinds. He hunted with open sites and was deadly at any range, in any situation.
He also raised chickens and other fowl. He killed anything that would bother chickens.
One day we were out hunting squirrels and he spots a hawk 70 or so yards away in a tree.. He had an old single shot bolt action 22.. I had a Browning SA 22 Auto. We both had excellent eye sight. He says to me shoot that hawk. Me not wanting to to break the law and not having anything against Hawks to begin with raised my rifle and fire 9 rounds at the Hawk. I was aiming right under the bird. He proceeded to tell me, It’s not like you to miss, you shot right under the hawk. Then he explained how he could see the bullets flying through the air. Then he taught me how to see bullets flying. I guess he had a lot of practice in Korea. Before he died he said he was going to find the best hunting places in heaven and he would have everything ready when I got there. I hope he was right about all that.
