The pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 rifle is a legend, and deservedly so…. but the new Model 70 rifles produced by Fabrique National of Belgium, are every bit as good, and as heretical as it sounds, probably better than their fabled forbearers. It is regrettable that a foreign concern ended up making these legendary long arms, but if a foreign company had to be involved, then FN is the choice. John Browning and his son, Val, had long-standing relationships with the company, and the elder Browning died there at the plant while visiting his son in 1926.

The materials and workmanship in the new Model 70s are unrivaled for their price, and these beautiful new rifles deliver sub-moa performance if the owner does his part. The Model 70 is known as the “rifleman’s rifle,” and for good reason!

Thanks for intelligent comments! Especially since I also believe that the new FN Model 70’s are just as good or maybe better than the pre-64s. Most of which have probably been grabbed up by some very deep pocket collectors.

Of which I am of mixed mind. As they will mostly become safe queens. But also most folks will now not be ever able to see, shoot or own one. But I guess thats the way it is! Grumpy
