Tennessee Leads the Nation in Gun Safety Education

Tennessee has made history by becoming the first U.S. state to require gun safety education in all public and charter schools starting in the 2025–2026 school year. This groundbreaking law ensures that students, including kindergarteners, receive age-appropriate lessons on identifying firearms, avoiding handling them, and reporting them to trusted adults. The initiative addresses the state’s high rates of unintentional shootings among children and reinforces personal responsibility and safety. Republicans praise the law as a common-sense measure that protects children while respecting families’ rights and Second Amendment values.
