Remember when those were around 600 at the gun show. Ended up getting one with a 1903-a3 at a pawn shop deal.
Barrel or receiver threads were off so center on the receiver was not center on the target or so said a m1 smith friend.
But for the price was a nice knock around shooter.
I too can remember when $600 would allow someone to buy a pretty good gun. SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!! I also would agree with you in that anything associated with St. John of Garand is a good thing!
