So of the rounds below, which is your favorite?

As for your humble blogger tastes in real firecrackers. I am partial to the 44 Special, 45 ACP for my BBQ guns. As to the others they would have to be the 22LR, 22 Hornet, 223 Remington and the wonderfully old school 257 Roberts. (Hey I am old!!)

Or if I am expecting company especially certain relatives of mine. Then this :

Your thoughts and comments except from “certain relatives” are welcomed and encouraged. Grumpy

45acp is my preferred pistol calibre though 38special was the round i learned to shoot with.

For plinking 22lr
For varmint 223 or 7.62×39
For hunting 303, 308 or 338
For woods camping 45-70
For home defense 12 gauge

A neighbor gave me sets of reloading dies a decade ago for 218 bee and 45 long colt but i have yet to find a gun chambered in either it at a reasonable price.

Yeah those are some mighty tough ones to find. I once got some extra cash and bought a Ruger # 1 in some really weird caliber that my CRS prevents me from recalling. Then on Ebay someone was selling a 218 Bee barrel & poof all my money was gone. But I had a 218 Bee rifle.

It’s a great round but the price of ammo is just plain nuts. Especially since I don’t trust myself to do a proper job of reloading.

As to the matter of 45 LC. Many centuries ago I was able to buy a Colt New Service in 45 LC over in a now long closed Gun Shop in Redondo Beach. But during the great struggle for Freedom (my first divorce) It was a tragic causality. Just keep looking as one just never knows what is around the corner! Grumpy
