Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle Review

These were very popular where I worked and we sold a gob of them. I never shot one but they seem serviceable in spite of being really plasticky, which makes them quite lightweight. The action and barrel are offset like he says and the pistol grip is quite oversized making them a little awkward to handle. The stock cap he had trouble removing is often a total bitch to get off using just your fingers and could pose a serious challenge in freezing conditions, particularly if your hands were suffering from exposure.

It’s a decent gun for the price and fits the designed purpose but you wouldn’t want it for your primary 22 and certainly not your only rifle because of the limitations and compromises inherent in the design and cartridge. If you wanted only one 22, a Ruger 10/22 takedown, especially one in the Magpul stock, sacrifices only the light weight, flotation, and price point while delivering all of the features of a general-purpose 22 rifle as well as access to a plethora of after-market accessories and mods.
