Now from what I have heard over the years. Is that this was suppose to be an Officers weapon. Even though the smart ones and there are a few of them out there. (Yes I was enlisted!) They would “lose” theirs and pick up something else in its place.

To be fair also, the life of most Line Officers is one not of Wine and Roses. But I have a bone to pick with this gun. In that most of the troops had to carry the Garand or the Thompson SMG. Which neither is not a weapon noted to be anywhere considered light like this puppy is.

So here is my latest rant in my humble blog about this particular firearm.

Now I understand the theory that Officers are suppose to plan and lead the troops. Not that I have “never” seen NCO’s or even PFC’s do it. So the theory then goes and says that therefore Officers should get a bit of slack when it comes to issues of pay, privileges & excused from some onerous duties.

( For example digging latrines, guard duty, K.P. and other fun things that the Troops  E-4 and below get to do in the field.)

But to get special weapons is just pushing it a little too far for this Old Boy. Now granted the Army got rid of it after the unpleasantness in 1940’s Europe & Asia. Plus the M-1 Carbine is not the best gun to take into a gunfight. (It is however a mighty fun gun to go out and shoot coke / beer cans and Bug Bunny’s relatives with. I should know!)

Anyways so ended the lesson / Rant for today! Grumpy
